1. What is the minimum age for joining the boarding school?

11 years of age although exceptions to this can be considered.

2. How much experience does the school have with boarding?

The school began to house boarders of a variety of nationalities in 1998.

3. Will I be able to meet the people I am going to live with and the house?

Yes, when you come to visit the school you will be able to meet the host family and the house you will live in.

4. Will I have my own room?

You can choose between multiple, twin or single rooms.

5. How do the pupils adapt to the boarding school?

During the first weeks they are accompanied by a “buddy”; another pupil who takes care of them in class and on the playground and is responsible for introducing them to other pupils. The teachers and tutors also monitor new students more intensively until they are completely adapted.

6. Which procedures do I have to follow to study in Spain?

European pupils are able to enter and exit and remain on Spanish territory as they wish. The only document required to travel freely in and out of the country is the National Identity Card or passport.

Pupils who are not from the European Union must apply for a student visa from the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in their country. Once they have this visa the school can apply for a student card. This card is obligatory for students who wish to stay in Spain.

7. Does Caxton College accept pupils without the required level of English?

Yes, as long as the student has good grades from their previous school. Students with no level of English and students with a lower level of English can all be accepted.

- Students who have no level of English will not attend all of the mainstream classes but will receive private English lessons following an individual plan of studies.

- If the pupil has a low level of English they will take a test to determine their academic ability. The number of extra classes required will depend on the result of these exams.

The individual educational plans are designed by the Language Support Department. However, it is recommended that pupils with a lower level of English join the Summer School programme before starting in September.

Attending the summer course will enable the pupil to adapt to the school and the same time they can follow a special language programme to help them to integrate more rapidly when they start the school year.
